After crossing the Mekong from
Thailand we entered Laos and began a
two day journey down the Mekong to
the ancient capitol Luang Prabang.
An absolutely wonderful town in the
heart of Northern Laos. We spent
nearly a week exploring the French
Colonial streets and multitudes of
Buddhist temples. From Luang
Prabang, we moved on by mini bus to
the town of Vang Vieng an up and
coming hippie draw that attracts the
type from world wide to come and sit
and do nothing. Not impressed we
booked a kayak tour that departed
the next day to the capital of
Vientiane. Combining multitudes of
transportation, we arrived the next
day in the sleepy capital preparing
for the ..... Festival and national
boat races, the largest holiday in
Laos. We hadn't planned on this but
it turned out to be a great
experience,  allowing us great
insight into the local culture. From
Vientiane we took an overnight bus
all the way to Hanoi. The first of
many bus adventures to come.
