| Our goal in Zambia was simple. Victoria Falls. It was a good thing too because our journey through the Caprivi strip from Namibia was long and tiring. Jolly Boys, a fabulous backpackers in Livingston, situated only a few k from the falls proved to be the perfect place to spend 4 or 5 or 6 days. We used the time to rest and recover, see the falls at our leisure, cross to Zimbabwe for a day and I even took in the Africa Railroad museum. Jolly Boys had a great staff and a wonderful pool and bar that made our stay there a real vacation from our travels. Once rested we finally packed up and headed out by bus to Lusaka, the capital. We spent a day or two in the capital exploring the city while waiting for our Tanzanian visas to be processed. Lusaka is a decent city with well shaded tree lined streets. From Lusaka, we moved on to the border with Malawi where we spent the night in a small backpackers while waiting out a thunderstorm. The next day we headed across the border African style. With 8 other people in a Toyotaq Camary. |
